Which type of wall padding should I
choose? |
| |
We recommend that you consider the following questions to help you
choose the correct wall padding for your athletic facility: |
|
|
| |
1. How far is the distance between the
walls and the competition area? |
| |
If your walls are within just
a few feet of the competition area, we recommend using thicker padding,
such as our Elite Wainscoting, which is a full 4" thick. When the
walls are close to the playing court, the chances are greater that
someone will hit the wall padding at full speed. Our Elite
Wainscoting is ideal for such situations. |
| |
|
| |
2. What age of people will be using the
facility primarily? |
| |
For elementary school aged
children, we recommend using our Trimline 110 Wainscoting. It has
just the right amount of cushion for kids. Trimline 110 is also
suitable for middle schools, high schools, and colleges. Again, we
recommend the Elite Wainscoting if the walls are within a few feet of
the competition area. Trimline EVA is also a good option in such
situations, but it would be too firm for children. |

Additional
considerations... |
| |
-
When deciding how many feet
of wall padding you should install, if you are padding a gymnasium,
consider that the width of the basketball lane is 12'. We
recommend no less than 12' of padding, centered underneath the basket on
both ends. This is a bare minimum, however, and it would be best
to install 20' - 24' on both ends, simply because you don't want someone
to miss the pads if they are fouled hard on a lay-up, for example.
Ideally, you want to pad any surface which has the potential of causing
injury. It is better to have too much padding than not enough.
For facilities such as wrestling rooms, we recommend padding the entire
room, and any surface which poses a potential threat to safety.
|
| |
-
If you have structures such
as stages, columns, I-beams, etc, we can pad those as well.
Go to our section
other padding products to read more. We offer a wide
variety of protective padding products, and we are happy to consult
with you if you are not sure what is the best way to cover the surface
which causes you concern.

-
Often, there are structures
such as electrical outlets, light switches, fire extinguishers,
etc, which you don't want to cover up with wall padding. We can
make any necessary cutouts to allow access to such structures, without
compromising the safety features.
